Short description of the contents of some songs created by Lana Del Rey.
My personal impressions of Lana.
Table of Contents
Lana del Rey continues to work inside me, even if I do not listen
to her music. I think about her music and the videos, even if I do
other things. I hear her music inside, although my ears do not
hear anything acoustically. Obviously I became a fan of her. A
groupie at age 65. Sometimes she remembers me to Pink Floyd. To
the guitar then adds her unique voice.
At the beginning of May 2019 I got 4 CDs of her. Lust for life, Born to die, Ultraviolence, Honeymoon. The music integrates everything what has attracted me in the past.
Sometimes she sings her lyrics very quietly, sometimes the music is very powerful. It expresses emotions in a wide range. There is also the piano as a musical instrument, strings, drummer ... Sometimes she uses a whole orchestra with classic elements.
Her vocals are always the central part of the music.
After my opinion this music is only possible because there exists
About live performance videos
The audience reacts to her very enthusiastic and she interacts with her audience. I think she enjoys it. She celebrates her music and her contents, not herself. Sometimes she sings in the background, leaving her background singers in front of the stage.
She loves her audience and is loved by it.
To images of her
Bloody eyes and a bloody soule. Today, the sadness of beings could be a part of the whole. I can not understand the feelings of the todays generation, because I do not belong to it. But I understand the music, so it must include visions of a better world. These were the feelings of the 60th and 70th.
I think she is addicted to changes because she is too powerful to stuck only in one frame. And she always looks beautiful. That is a gift to her fans.
Introduction to a Lana Fan group
I am from Plauen, Sachsen, Germany. 1 year older than 64. I heard Lust for life serveral times but I couldn't identify it. It was my favourite song over all the others on the radio, and I hear radio until 4 hours a day. I even did not know who was the singer behind Summertime Sadness. Then I identified Lana on a radio playlist, because I was online when Summertime Sadness was played. I saw the video of Summertime Sadness and read the lyrics. Then it was clear for me that I need more. The irrelevant random fact, the last 8 years I was mostly interested in Mathematical and Physical problems and I spent a lot of time to fulfill the requests of Googles Search console for my website. Before this I was a fan of Tori Amos and tried to understand her lyrics over years.
I got it 6 weeks ago. Passed my time with blindness in my eyes. I love the CD. Violence is one of the worse things ever. Very often women are the victims. The record shows it, and the image. Violence contradicts intelligence. "He hurt me but it felt like true love". I understand it but I hate it. She can not defend herself, because she is involved in a circle of admiration and dependencies. He sees it and he uses it for his advantage. This is ultraviolence.
On Ultraviolence I like most Sad girl, Old Money, Cruel World, Ultraviolence. Money Power glory is a different view to my intentions. But I don't know, I think she sometimes touches my own feelings with her lyrics and sometimes not, but in my limitations I understand it sometimes only partially. My analysis is not objective, I have a certain goal, to see it positive and to integrate it in my world view. Or to change my view, but only positive. If the outcoming is negative I try to break it off. Maybe I am too much addicted to this positive view, so it can be that I can not always see the truth. Primarily I am attracted by her music. There is an emotional accordance. I think I have a feminist view to her lyrics but she did not want to be considered as a feminist. I like her how she is.
I think she is a world walker, she embraces with her music the whole planet. Maybe she is a representative of a new generation, which did not exist in this way before.
I do not know how it goes on in other fan groups. From other musicians I also find songs that I really like. But there are often only a few, form Lana del Rey almost all.
Her voice is unique. In one of the videos on Youtube she sang Scarborough fair. And this is Poetry! I know the song of Joan Baez.
I also like the band and their instruments.
Hope is a dangerous thing, but what shall we do without it. We have too few possibilities to change the things that are worse. Life has a subjective meaning. Objectivity in science alone did not improve the world. Sometimes we need hope only to survive.
(unpublished in the social media)
My description reflects only a partial aspect of the songs. To really understand them, the whole text has to be read. It is also possible that my interpretation changes over time, the better I get to know them. My English Speech understanding is limited. In my opinion there are not very good German descriptions. So I have to go to English-language literature.
The order of the songs is random, depending on which song I currently worked.
The whole thing is subjective and that's the way it should be. It is a fan description.
To Born to die I have the follwing idea. Lana does not refer necessarily to her own self. Maybe it is the bonding with others, who died and their loss hurts her.
The lyric describes a love story.Oh my heart it breaks every step that I take
Are these the gates of heaven? Is she telling the story after all is passed?
I feel so alone on
a Friday night
Can you make it feel like home if I tell you you're mine?
Don't make me sad, don't make me cry.
Sometimes love is not enough and the road gets tough, I don't know why''.
In the video to the song she dies at the end, he holds her in his arms and she is full of blood. It has been a car accident, the car is burning.
While driving he has kissed her and had no look to the traffic.
Has this been the reason for the accidence?
Take me to the finish line, we are born to die
She indicates in the video with a thumb that she is cutting her throat.
In the video, she finds herself in a large church and at the end she goes through a portal. The scene changes and shows her lover holding her bleeding corpse in his arms.
The song is sometimes very melancholic, but it is changing at the part
And if you call for me, you know I'll run.And it asks questions.
At a concert, to this question a loud YES came over, it was louder than the music.
I think she is really loved by her fans.
Sometimes I can not read the lyrics because I have tears in my eyes.
She felt alone and is waiting for a call.
Yet still inside, I felt alone.
But if you send for me, you know I'll come.
There is a dependency in this song.
If you change your mind, I'll come, come, come.
I posted the following reply on the video comment side:
Got your gun, I've got my dad - Is this happiness. Could it be, that the meaning is, 'you got your gun, I've got my dad'? Then she questions both. She is hard and so is her man - is this happiness? In the video she looks at flowers and she is sad, sitting on the street, looking around. I like the music and I can not stop after listening once. I hear it 3 or 4 times. It's too short.
She also questions the Hollywood life.
High up in the Hollywood hills, taking violet pills
High up in the Hollywood hills, crushin' violet pills
She is talking about dead.
One gun on the table, Headshot if you're able - Is this happiness?
Is it resignation, to see how this life is after she reached her goals?
This song is very popular and distributed all over the internet in dozens of videos, all of them unauthorized?
A love story? He can find the heaven, if he wants her?
I got my eyes on you
Say yes to heaven, say yes to me
But the lyric also says:
It doesn't matter, now it's all gone
This song is very popular, with million of clicks. But unreleased.
And it's one of my favorites.
I wrote the following as a reply to a comment in a Lana Del Rey Fan group, but I did not publish it there.
I bought all the CDs to support her and at least one single, and I should have a calm conscience, but I don't have. Because of all these unreleased and not authorized videos. It's the question what a fan relationship means. Only to gather everything that is possible? Or to look for a spiritual connection that takes care about the sensitivities of the artist? If I am consequent, then I have to ignore more than 90% of all the videos that are distributed over the internet. But if many fans will think so, is this helpful for the artist? Maybe it is sometimes better not to be considered as a fan but as a consumer. I don't know what I am.
The problem is I linked some of these videos from my Facebook side and in my Youtube account.
I do not want to be bad with Lana.
It is unlikely that she ever get notice about be. Sometimes it is helpful to be unimportant and my Facebook site also.
Example: Say yes to heaven.
An unreleased song.
I like it and I have posted it on my Facebook site.
Is it happiness was partially released. There exist versions of the Ultraviolence Album in which it is included, others without this song. Like the one that I have.
